Tim Phillips is a Vice President / Trust and Estate Specialist for Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group. He is responsible for teaming with Merrill Lynch advisors to provide strategic and tactical strategies in the areas of trust and estate planning, concentrated equity positions, charitable planning, and endowment consulting and management. Tim began his career as a Market Analyst for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia. Upon returning to North Carolina, he served as an Investment Officer for the managed portfolio group of a regional investment management firm. His comprehensive wealth advisory career began with Wachovia Trust Services and he joined Merrill Lynch from the Private Bank at Bank of America where he served as a Private Client Advisor.

Tim has over 22 years experience in philanthropic financial planning and endowment management, estate and wealth preservation planning, investment management, and closely-held business transfer planning. He is a member of the Council on Foundations Philanthropic Advisors Network and routinely consults with individuals, private foundations, and non-profits on methods to structure and enhance their charitable giving opportunities and portfolio management. He majored in business administration and mechanical engineering at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, completed an executive business program a the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and attended several Cannon Financial Institute curriculums including Comprehensive Wealth Management at Northwestern University Law School. He is currently enrolled in the Certified Investment Management Analyst program.

He lives on a working livestock farm with his wife and three children. He is involved in youth athletics, church, is a black belt Tae Kwon Do instructor, and serves as a scoutmaster. His hobbies include backpacking, whitewater sports and woodworking.
